The Medic Orchestra organizes its charity concert for the first time and offers its entire income for the Pediatric Clinic No. 1. The collected amount is going to be spent on installing a health monitoring system at the clinic’s pediatric intensive care unit. The orchestra’s intention is to create a tradition with this charity concert and always invite a renowned soloist to these events. Atala Schöck (alto, soloist of the Hungarian State Opera) has worked together with conductors like Pierre Boulez, Daniele Gatti and Philippe Jordan and since 2004, she has sung eight times already at the Bayreuth Festival. The Medic Orchestra of the Semmelweis University was founded in 2008. The majority of its members are students of the university but students of several other Hungarian universities and colleges play in the orchestra as well. Besides participating at university events regularly, the symphony orchestra gave concerts with great success in Bayreuth and Switzerland, too. The conductor Gergely Dubóczky has been working with the orchestra for several years and also leads the Symphony Orchestra of the Bartók Music Secondary School. He was invited by Iván Fischer to work with the Budapest Festival Orchestra for the first time at the orchestra’s 2014 summer tour. Since then he regularly works with the orchestra as assistant conductor and conductor.
